Support the Sagada Teen Song Fest

DEAR KAKAILIYAN AND FRIENDS:

The Sagda Segment, a group of young adults from Sagada, Mountain Province shall be launching a grand singing contest that shall culminate during the town fiesta in February, 2006. It is the Sagada Segment's interest to supplement existing programs of our young people independent from the municipal government or any political or religious affiliations.

The group initially staged Miss Teen Sagada in 2004. It was the group's eager intent to redefine the image of a beauty pageant at that time. Trainees under Sagada Segment clinched the Miss Mountain Province title for three consecutive years since the provincial competition started in 2001. Even so, the group's evaluation and community feedback shows a singing contest is favored over a beauty pageant, hence the birth of the Song Festival.

In this regard, the Sagada Segment is planning the purchase of a very good concert-type sound system for the competition. Other costs considered are the cash prizes, trainors' fees and operational expenses. Donations for this cause shall lead to the realization of the project and make it self-sustaining in the near future. We hope to see each other during the launching and, as this is intended to be a yearly activity, even during the years to come.
