About Sagada Segment

The Sagada Segment is an organization composed of young professionals, students and the Sangguniang Kabataan of Sagada.

In February 2004, Sagada Segment launched the Miss Teen Sagada show. Zyra Borbon, the first Miss Teen Sagada, went on to compete and became Miss Mountain Province 2004. Zyra is the third Miss Mountain Province from Sagada. Miss Mountain Province 2003 is Karen Wendy Brett and Miss Mountain Province 2002 is Lourdes Mhae Cayatoc. They all underwent the rigid training prepared by the Sagada Segment for them.

In February 2003, the core member of the group successfully coordinated the Mutya ng Santa Maria and was able to raise funds for the student development fund of Saint Mary's School.

Members of the organization also include the same individuals who staged the Mutya ng Montanosa 2000 in Bontoc, a forerunner of the Miss Mountain Province search that was institutionalized in 2001. The said pageant is now supported by the local government offices as it is backed by a provincial ordinance.

Aside from the aforementioned projects, the Sagada Segment spearheaded the following activities: Saint Mary's School Foundation Day 2002 Math Quiz Bee (together with the Saint Mary's School faculty), Sagada Town Fiesta 2003 Math Quiz Bee (together with the Fiesta Quiz Bee Committee), the municipal-wide Peace and Order Speech and Essay Contest 2003 (in partnership with the Sagada PNP), among others.

The group seeks to legitimize its endeavors by establishing its legal identity in the near future to be able to provide a solid support system to youth oriented activities in sports, music and the arts, academics, journalism, and other similar competitive and team-building activities.
